  3. Maybe we could discuss why we prefer our versions.

I think the critical text is the most accurate Greek text, and i adhere to a literal translation model, so i would naturally favor the ESV or NASB.

I actually waiver between the two, but i guess the ESV slightly edges the NASB out because i appreciate the English literary style more than the NASB.

Lately i have been reading more stuff on the Byzantine text and the Majority Text position, so perhaps my views will change with time. But for now, this is where i stand.

The one thing i like about the Byzantine as opposed to the Critical Text is the history of transmission.

Maurice A. Robinson has a good article on the Byzantine priority here…

The thing is, if i do become convinced of the Majority/Byzantine Text position, what version would i read? The NKJV differs a good deal from the Majority Text, especially in the book of Revelation.

The only couple of majority text versions that i know of are…

    World English Bible (WEB)…

    English Majority Text…

Getting back to the ESV, another cool thing is how open they are with giving permission to use their text, especially via the internet. The also give it away free for E-Sword. I love this kind of free use with the Bible!
